This might be taboo to say about Ontario’s best Butter Tart Festival, but today was my first time attending this beloved event. The first thing that struck me was the energy in the air. For the first time, in a long time, there was a sense of normalcy, excitement and joy, filling King St. in Downtown Midland as the sweet smell of butter tarts and maple floated through the air.
Every vendor, festival volunteer, street performer and festival go-er reminded me why I love Midland so much. There is an essence of familiarity within this small town with the balance of vibrant, innovative small businesses bursting with creativity and positive energy.
The community in this enchanted little town really is the heart of Midland and I am honoured to be a part of it!
